MBACP - Dip.Counselling Level 4

Qualified Person Centred Therapist

The foundations of my work lay in the belief that we all have the potential resources for inner growth. My focus will be to encourage you to find the answers that lie within you. This may involve reflection and gentle challenging which can help you to view your feelings, behaviours and patterns of thinking more clearly. Therapy can help people understand themselves better and through this understanding comes greater self-acceptance, self-care and self - belief.

About me and my practice

I work in a warm, empathetic, accepting manner. I enjoy working from a person-centred approach where the sessions are client-led and will with whatever you choose to bring to the session. I offer no-judgement and welcome clients to share whatever is creating pain for them no matter how dark the thoughts and feelings may be. Whilst my core therapeutic approach is person-centred my training and ongoing life learning helps me integrate other approaches where it feels helpful such as goal-orientated coaching, symptom support (whilst we work on the underlying causes) mindfulness, self-care and mind-body work. I adapt my therapy to the unique needs of my clients.
As a wife, mother, business owner, friend, sister, daughter and fellow human being, I aim to tap into all my experiences to help me empathise and understand my clients and walk with them on their journey of self-discovery.
I am interested in many aspects of therapy and am committed to continuing my professional and personal development through ongoing training and lifelong learning. I receive regular supervision to support my work which safeguards both me and my clients.
Since qualifying I have been running my own private practice based in Sale (South Manchester) offering counselling to clients both face to face and online. My therapy room is based in central Sale and has car parking and disabled access facilities. The location is accessible by bus and tram.

Experience

I have experience of working with a broad range of people and problems, both online and face-to-face. Some of the issues I am able to help clients with are:
> coping with stress
> reduce anxiety and panic attacks
> coping with depression
> process grief through bereavement or other loss
> improve self-esteem and a sense of self-worth
> identity and explore complex issues
> explore transitional stages of life, including motherhood, the menopause and retirement
> find direction, purpose & meaning
> Work related stress

Whatever the medium, I aim to create a non-judgemental space for my clients where they can safely explore all aspects of themselves. From specific issues such as anxiety, stress or health conditions, to the complexity of long-held trauma, identity or deep-seated lack of self-belief.

Qualifications

I am a Level 4 Qualified therapist and member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work to their ethical framework www.bacp.co.uk . I have undertaken and passed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency assessment which is an assessment of the standardised skills, knowledge and abilities required to be a professional counsellor or psychotherapist. Currently undertaking a Level 3 End of Life Therapist Diploma and Menopause Coaching Course.

Additional Information

My focus is to encourage you to speak freely without fear or judgement and share your innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions in a controlled, safe environment. Often feelings and emotions such as anger, anxiety, shame and grief have been bottled up for some time. Releasing these feelings and being able to express yourself and have someone sit with and hold your feelings, accept all that you are, is a powerful way to move beyond pain.

Initial Consultation

I offer an initial no obligation free telephone consultation session to give you a chance to see if you feel comfortable with me and the way I work, and for me to get an initial understanding of what brings you to counselling. You can ask any questions you may have about counselling and my approach, and have time to reflect on whether this feels like the right option for you.

I believe investing in yourself is intrinsically linked to believing you are valuable and that you are worth looking after. I believe it is an investment that pays life-long dividends and that each and everyone of us is worth investing in. I charge £50 for online sessions.
